You may have seen ABC Four Corners' latest episode on childcare, which has exposed shocking failures in Australia's early learning system. The allegations of abuse and neglect are sickening and horrifying for parents and carers. Our children should be safe and nurtured in the early learning settings funded by governments and parents.

Australia needs a high-quality early childhood education system that is safe, inclusive, accessible and affordable.

The swift actions on safety taken by governments earlier this year have been a positive step in the right direction, however, structural reform is needed.

I'm calling on you as my representative to speak up on behalf of families in your constituency, and back our call for a National Early Childhood Commission.

A National Commission would be an independent body which would address safety, quality, accessibility, affordability and inclusion. It would oversee reform of the current early learning model and coordinate with all levels of government to prioritise children instead of profits.

The Federal Government can take further actions to support families in the first five years of their children's lives:
- Establish a paid parental leave scheme that would offer parents the genuine choice to spend the first year of their child’s life caring for them.
- Reform the early childhood education funding model to make it genuinely affordable for all families.

Our children are precious. Please speak to your party and publicly support a National Early Childhood Commission.
